The Internet Gopher protocol is designed for distributed document
search and retrieval. This document describes the protocol, lists
some of the implementations currently available, and has an overview
of how to implement new client and server applications. This document
is adapted from the basic Internet Gopher protocol document first
issued by the Microcomputer Center at the University of Minnesota in
1991.
This memo provides information for the Internet community. It does
not specify an Internet standard. Distribution of this memo is
unlimited.
This announcement is sent to the IETF list and the RFC-DIST list.
Requests to be added to or deleted from the IETF distribution list
should be sent to IETF-REQUEST@CNRI.RESTON.VA.US. Requests to be added
to or deleted from the RFC-DIST distribution list should be sent to

九工大の もりたです。
いざ、Infosystemのソフトウエアをインストールしようとするとき
どのパッケージを展開して、あの資料を読んで、クライアントはどうして
サーバーはどうなる？ という情報を集めるのには時間がかかりますよね。
インストールする人の苦労を減らし、なるべく簡単にインストールできる
ように私が知ってる限りでまとめてみました。
もちろん私の情報だけでは古くて不完全ですから、どんどん付け加える
なり、訂正していってもらえれば幸いです。
私の環境は、SPARC Station 2 SUN-OS 4.1.1 JLEです。

目的：どのftpサーバーに何が入っているかの情報
形態：普通サーバーは日本で２、３ヶ所、世界でも数ヶ所で動かし
使用者はクライアントソフト、mail、telnetでアクセス
クライアントソフト：
archie-1.3.2.tar.Z
xarchie-1.3.tar.Z
サーバーソフト：
入手が難しいらしい。新バージョンから売りものになるらしい。

形態：あちらこちらにあるデーターベースのサーバーから
特定の単語を含む文章をクライアントを使って探し出せる。
データベースサーバーは自由に自分で作れる。

の中にサーバーと各種クライアントが含まれている。

目的：Emacs上でのハイパーテキストの実現
形態：Emacs上に表示された単語をマウスでクリックすると
いろんな動作がおこせる。Epochも同じようなことができる。
info,mail,wais,wwwのインターフェースを持ってるらしい。
infoを使ってみたが、マウスでポンポンポンで目的の項目
を呼び出せるので便利。
ソフト：

(Emacs-lisp) もう3.Xが出ているらしい。

サーチャーについて次の本を手に入れました。
”サーチャーの時代 - 高度データベース検索 -
三輪 眞木子 丸善 2400円 昭和61年発行"
この本によりますと、サーチャーというのは欧米では著者が渡った
1975年には図書館、情報関連の大学に養成過程が設けられているほど
歴史のあるもののようです。データベースの費用はともかくとして
データベースで大量の情報から、目的の情報を探すためのノウハウを
身につけた技術者のことのようですね。
その本にデータベース検索技術者認定試験第１回（第２級、昭和６０年）の
試験問題がついていました。すべて筆記です。
例
問 下の表は、各分野の代表的データーベースを各分野から３つづつ
選び出したものである。それぞれのデータベースの主な対象分野
一つずつ選び出して○印で示せ。
問 あるデータベースの出力の一部がある。それぞれの番号にあてはまる
項目名を対応する枠内に記述せよ。
問 自分が経験した検索実施例を１つ取り上げ、検索の経過や結果に
ついて、できるだけ具体的に記述し考察せよ。
