Location and Transportation for NTT Atsugi R&D Center
Location
Atsugi City is situated in the center of Kanagawa Prefecture,
46km south-west of Tokyo and 32 km from Yokohama.
The population of Atsugi is approximately 200,000.
Transportation from Shinjuku to Atsugi
(i) By Odakyuu line: Shinjuku to Hon-Atsugi, taking:
- an express train (kyuukou),
- a semi express train (Junkyuu), or
- a local train (kakueki-teisha).
This will cost 420-yen and the journey time is 60 minutes on the
express train. The service is very frequent with the first train
departing at 5:00 and the last one leaving at around 0:45.
(ii) The Odakyuu line operates additional trains catering
principally for tourists travelling to the Odawara and Hakone regions.
Hon-Atsugi is served by some of these super expresses (orange,
tokkyuu romance car). The fare is 920-yen. Be sure
to take the sagami or asagiri expresses,
and note that this service is
not regular finishing before the evening rush hour.
Transportation to NTT Atsugi R&D Center:
(i) The bus station of Hon-Atsugi is a 5 minutes walk from the north exit of the railway station in the north-east direction.
Hon-Atsugi bus station to Tsuushin Kenkyuujo Mae (NTT)
- Bus pole number 7: bus number 36 going to Aoyama Gakuin Daigaku.
- Bus pole number 8: bus number 37 bound for Morinosato Aoyama.
The journey time is 20-30 minutes and the cost is 270-yen. In both
cases leave the bus at Tsuushin Kenkyuujo Mae (in front of
the Communication Laboratory, i.e. NTT).
(ii) Aiko-ishida train station to Tsuushin Kenkyuujo Mae (in
front of the Communication Laboratory, i.e. NTT), Bus pole number 4 :
bus number 18 or 19, (20 mins., 220-yen).
