"Kobe Ijin-kan," in the Kitano area renowned for its western-style houses built during the Meiji and Taisho Period, is one of Kobe's most popularly visited spots. Due to the damage caused by the quake, most of these houses have been closed to the public even though their exteriors appear to be in good condition. Nevertheless, looking around this area to enjoy its distinctly nostalgic atmosphere is well worth the visit.
Not only the accommodation facilities but other tourism-related facilities (restaurants, shops, etc.) as well are now mostly back in normal service.
