THE GREAT HANSHIN EARTHQUAKE RESTORATION NEWS
Half a year after the Great Hanshin Earthquake hit Kobe City in
Hyogo Prefecture, the restoration work continues to progress much
faster than expected. Now almost the entire railway network,
including the JR Sanyo-Shinkansen passing through many sightseeing
areas, has reopened. Over 70% of the accommodations have also returned
to normal operation.
The citizens of Kobe have launched their '95 Kobe Sightseeing
Campaign and are planning some major events this summer to welcome
back tourists to their dynamic, historical city.
